Your Spring Boot tests are passing, but can you trust them? This session reveals five critical mistakes that silently undermine your test suite's reliability and your confidence in deployments.

We'll tackle the tough questions: How can 100% coverage still miss critical bugs? Why is your test suite so slow? You'll see real tests that look correct but hide serious flaws - transaction rollback confusion, context pollution, and incorrect @SpringBootTest usage. We'll also sharpen your test strategy: picking the right test slice, reusing the application context, and slashing build times for faster feedback. Each pitfall comes with practical solutions and alternatives.

Through code examples and live debugging, you'll learn to write tests that actually catch bugs before production, shifting from hope to certainty. Perfect for developers burned by production issues despite "comprehensive" test suites.
Joyful testing awaits!

Top 5 Spring Boot Testing Mistakes Developers Trap Into

Code was never the bottleneck — and AI just made that impossible to ignore. Writing code is now cheap, which changes everything *except* the code. This interactive session takes one uncomfortable claim seriously: good engineering practices don't die under AI, they get sorted.

Whatever was merely a proxy for "more code, faster" loses its justification. Whatever builds and carries an *understanding* of a system grows more valuable — because of AI, not despite it.

We'll trace this through three things every team wants right now: correct working code, costs under control, and enough experienced developers, with practical theories like Jevons' Paradox and Peter Naur's "Programming as Theory Building".

With interactive elements and concrete things you'll do differently on Monday.

In this talk, you'll learn how we at PROGRESS GROUP support the planning and coordination of large construction projects with our ahead Suite platform. Acting as a central planning and data hub, the platform combines large 3D building models (BIM) with operational data from various ERP systems to create a unified planning environment.
We’ll demonstrate how 3D models serve as the foundation for project planning, while data from different ERP systems is collected, synchronized, and visualized directly in the context of the model. This approach uniquely connects BIM visualization with real planning processes for complex construction sites. In the talk, we will also highlight the key role that open-source software plays in this ecosystem.

AI is becoming part of everyday software development — but using it well means more than writing better prompts. In this talk, I’ll share how we currently approach AI as a software development company: where it helps, where human judgment is still essential, and how we integrate it responsibly into real project workflows. Using Claude Code as the main example, I’ll explain concepts like Claude.md, Skills, Commands, Hooks, and MCPs, and show how AI can connect with existing tools such as GitHub Actions and Linear to become a more structured and useful engineering tool.

Our Data Team at RIS bridges the gap between legacy banking systems and modern analytics. With our cloud‑first data platform, we turn data into outcomes faster—for our organization and for our clients. I'll share the choices behind our approach, how we balance speed with governance, and what’s already working: quicker access to trusted data, smoother hand‑offs from data to dashboards and models, and lower run costs through automation and monitoring. You’ll hear what we’d repeat, what we’d change, and the road ahead. If you build data products or lead data teams, join this session to take concrete ideas you can apply the next day—bring your questions and challenges!

How do you recognize an open source maintainer in a theme park? They review pull requests on the roller coaster!
Being an open source maintainer is really hard! People expect so much from you: responding to issues, reviewing pull requests, fixing security vulnerabilities, and keeping the project up to date with the latest dependencies. All on top of your regular job!
In this talk, I will debunk some myths about real OSS maintainership, funding, and community management. I will share my personal experiences, the good and the bad, so that you can decide if it's the sort of thing you want to get involved in.

The talk will focus on integrating AI into Spring applications through the Spring AI plugin, demonstrating in a hands-on example how to generate text, images and audio to enrich user experiences.
The benefits of this approach, such as rapid content creation, more engaging interfaces and the ability to rethink established UX and commonly used patterns will be highlighted.
However, it is not a one-size-fits-all solution: we will examine the potential challenges, including the need for robust observability to catch incorrect outputs, the overhead of instrumentation and the complexity of evaluation testing.
This talk should enable participants to have a comprehensive understanding of how to implement AI-driven features, apply observability and testing best practices, and decide whether this setup is suitable for their Spring Boot projects.

As an engineer, when joining a new company/project we mostly face similar challenges: We join teams where existing members are faced with a high workload and lack the time to properly onboard new members.
We get into a project, have to work with nearly non-existent documentation, over time gain a deep understanding of the system, and adapt to the established tools and processes. In larger teams and structures, you grow and take on a lead role, onboard new people, eventually passing your responsibilities onto your former juniors.
Then your journey continues - with new challenges and responsibilities.
In this talk (or even group therapy session) I want to highlight common antipatterns, how to counter them and how to improve the structure for your teammates.

Migrating a legacy monolithic application is a major challenge — especially when a full rewrite isn't realistic. In this talk, I'll share how we successfully transitioned a large Vue 2 monolith to a modern, scalable architecture using Microfrontends. By first migrating the architecture — not the framework — we allowed teams to progressively rebuild individual apps in Vue 3 without disrupting the whole system. I'll discuss why having a Core-Agnostic project for shared services like Authentication, i18n, Sockets, Settings, and Sentry was critical to support multiple framework versions seamlessly. We used Single-SPA and SystemJS to manage Microfrontends dynamically, while preparing for a future switch to native ESM as browser support matures. Microfrontends not only helped us split and modernize the app, but also empowered teams to own and innovate independently.

GPUs are in high demand, but most PCs—especially in large enterprises—can’t run high-fidelity applications. Innoactive Portal solves this problem. This talk explores how a globally distributed platform lifts GPU-intensive workloads into the cloud and streams them to browsers, VR devices, and now the Apple Vision Pro—while keeping latency manageable and cloud costs under control. It covers the technical challenges of scaling across 100+ cloud regions and shares insights from iterative product development in a small team, highlighting the tension between ideal architecture, legacy code and pragmatic trade-offs.

Our presentation will focus on hexagonal architecture, a design pattern that promotes separation of concerns and results in applications that are easier to maintain, understand and develop.

The benefits of hexagonal architecture, such as decoupling business logic from external concerns, improved testability and flexibility in technology adoption, will be emphasized.

However, it is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We will also address the potential challenges and drawbacks of implementing this architecture, such as the risk of overengineering, the increase in codebase size and the difficulty of retrofitting into an existing codebase.
Through the presentation, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of hexagonal architecture, its benefits and potential challenges, so that they are able to make informed decisions about whether this design pattern is suitable for their software development projects.
